Techiman, the Bono East Capital town has the biggest market in the region. This attracts large numbers of traders to the capital on market days with overcrowding been a major challenge. The WHO standard on social distancing is difficult to observe here on market days and that is a source of worry to the citizens of Techiman. To comply with both government directives and the WHO protocols as measures to stops the spread of the disease, radio sensitizations by the health directorate and individual organizations is ongoing to inform the citizenry.
People are speculating a lockdown just as has been done in Accra and Kumasi. Thus, traders are getting worried because most of them earn their living on daily basis and cannot afford to purchase food stuffs for storage for a long period. Kooko sellers, awake sellers, ice water, Kayaye, butchers are among those getting worried.
