The ‘West Africa Against Ebola’ Campaign Ghana is calling on all Africans, farmers, philanthropists, corporate bodies, individuals to support the fight against Ebola in the West Africa sub-region.
The Chapter strongly believes that, the viral nature of Ebola disease makes it easy to spread to other parts of the world if it is not controlled in the affected countries.
In view of this, SEND-WEST AFRICA, Ghana Trade Union Congress (GTUC) and the Civic Forum Initiative (CFI) have decided to come together to support the fight against the disease.
The objectives of the campaign are to:
1. Mobilise financial and material support to Liberia, Sierra Leone and Guinea.
2. Educate Ghanaians on how to protect themselves and their families against the Ebola virus.
According to World Health Organisation (WHO), as of Sunday, 23 November, 2014, Ebola deaths in West Africa are estimated to be 5,689 deaths.
The unfortunate deaths include 3,016 in Liberia, 1,398 in Sierra Leone, 1,260 in Guinea, eight in Nigeria and six in Mali.
The Chapter therefore appeals to all to donate generously in cash or kind towards this project.
